An early start take us south of Cuzco to Huacarpay Lake. Here we can watch a number of waterbird such as Yellow-billed Teal, White-tufted Grebe, Yellow-billed Pintail, Andean Ruddy Duck, Puna Teal, Plumbeous Rail and many more. In the reeds we find Many-colored Rush-Tyrant and Wren-like Rushbird. In the scrub nearby the endemic and magnifiscent hummingbird Bearded Mountaineer can sometimes be seen, as well as Rusty-fronted Canastero and Streak-fronted Thornbird.
We continue to the small village of San Salvador. Above this village it is possible to see a number of passerines such as Chestnut-breasted Mountain-Finch, Tufted Tit-Tyrant, Peruvian Sierra-Finch, Chiguanco Thrush and others. Higher up there is a small lagoon good for Giant Coot, Crested Duck, Andean Goose, Andean Gull and Andean Lapwing. Return to Cuzco in the late afternoon.
