
Day 1 Lima to Mariposa. Great Inca-Finch and White-bellied Cinclodes
Start at 5.00 AM from Lima. Birding en route near Cocachacra we shall look for Great Inca-Finch, Pied-crested Tit-tyrant and Black-necked Woodpecker. Later a short stop near Ticlio to see White-bellied Cinclodes. Lunch in San Ramon. In the afternoon we reach Satipo where we will stay overnight.
Day 2. Mariposa to San Antonio. Peruvian Piedtail and Cerulean-capped Manakin
Today we shall explore the lower part of Satipo road. There is a side track from Mariposa that goes through very good bamboo patches and secondary growth, that should be interesting to explore. Stripe-chested Antwren, Cabani's Spinetail, Cinnamon-faced Tyrannulet and Bamboo Foliagegleaner have been recorded on the track, but there is undoubtedly more to see. Expected here are Peruvian Piedtail and Cerulan-capped Manakin. In the afternoon we shall continue up the Satipo road and stay in San Antonio village to be in place for the Cock of the Rock lek the following morning.
Day 3. San Antonio to Apalla. Ccok of the Rock and Amazonian Umbrellabird
Early morning we start climbing a trail to a Cock of the Rock display known as leks. On the way a stream is crossed which is good for Olive Finch in the early morning. The rest of the morning we travel to Apaya looking for birds like Blue-browed Tanager, Russet Antshrike, Lanceolated Monklet, Lemon-browed Flycatcher, Umbrellabird, Fasciated Tiger-Heron and Chestnut-crowned Gnateater, Afternoon birding mid section of the road to Apaya village with Peruvian Tyrannulet, Cinnamon-faced Tyrannulet, Versicolored Barbet, Solitary Eagle, Black-and-Chestnut Eagle, Crested Quetazal, Torrent Duck, Deep-blue Flowerpiercer. Night camp in Apaya.

Day 4. Lyre-tailed Nightjar and Sword-biled Hummingbird
A day of general birding near Apaya. There are loads of possibilities here including Grey-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Sword-billed Hummingbird, Bay Antpitta, White-backed Fire-eye, and flocks with Pearled Treerunner, Streaked Tuftedcheek, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Black-capped, Drab and Superciliated (White-browed) Hemispingus and many more. At night near Apaya one often see Lyre-tailed Nighthjar.We
Day 5. High altitude birding for Eye-ringed Thistletail, Millpo Tapaculo and Fire-throated Metaltail.
We shall bird Carrizales for Fiery-throated Metaltail, Eye-ringed Thistletail, obscura form of Rufous Antpitta, Pardusco, Tchudis and Millpo Tapaculo, Golden-plumed Parakeet etc. The afternoon will be spent at lower altitude searching for feeding flocks.
Day 6. Andamarca valley. Return to Apaya.
Early morning start for Andamarca valley. The climate is warmer and drier here. Many new species to science have been found here in recent years such as Black-spectacled Brush-Finch, a new Thryothorus wren and a new Thornbird. There may be more surprises. Since habitat is so different many species will be added to the list. Possibilities include Andean Ibis, White-winged Black.Tyrant, Black-backed Grosbeak, Golden-billed Saltator and others. Back to Apaya in the afternoon.
Day 7. Return to Lima. Andean Ibis and Andean Goose
We shall return to Lima via the Comas road that pass some fantastic scenery of deep gorges and higland lakes such as Pomacochas which holds Giant Coot and Silvery Grebe.
